Yo Mac Users

What is the feature that is built into the browsers that makes it so that if you leave a page up it automatically refreshes the page every minute or whatever interval you set it at? Is it in the browser or an add on or what exactly is it? Because that is the culprit in a lot of these cases where my website traffic is running into the thousands of hits per day.

Nevermind, seems it could be any machine and browser. And there's a lot of options for doing that sort of thing. But it's a moot point now because this blog will be only way anyone will be able follow what the new releases are anyway. Well, I guess they can copy and paste the link into a head's up thread on the forums too...

The Scoop: The Demise of Available Tools

OK, I've asked in the past that people not run software (also known as robot services) that checks my website every minute of every day. It runs up my bandwidth hugely. I have had some even recently who are running up several tens of thousands of accesses per week. And then there are some people who just check by hand, refreshing the site hundreds or thousands of time per day.

While I greatly appreciate the fandom and interest in my products (I really really do!) it causes troubles on the site and my site admin gives me a very hard time about it. I'm worried that if I exceed my bandwidth allowance this month that I may have my site shut down...

So, after some consideration here is the solution that we came up with. Available Tools is gone from my site and will not return. From now on the only way to find out about a product release will be through this blog. I will make an announcement of whatever is available and I will provide a link. The link will go to a page on my site that is only accessible from the link I provide here on the blog. Additional links off the same blog page announcement will take international users to the additional postage pages so they can make up the extra postage.

I'm hoping that this will shift the robot users and obsessive site checkers over to this blog and keep the traffic more manageable on my site. We'll try it out later this week and see how it goes. Thanks for bearing with me and I look forward to many more future tool releases! :)

Update 9/8

OK, I will be doing some full sized SOPTHings this week. Not likely to be done before Friday though so please shut off your web site checking robots folks and put away those twitchy refresh tapping fingers. Nothing else will be released this week. My traffic for the month has already used up 1/4 of my transfer allowance and even without checking my statistics I have no doubt it's because a bunch of you folks are hammering on the site waiting for knives to come up.

Look guys, I have tons of knives coming this fall, and I do mean tons. The full sized SOPThings release this week will be a VERY small batch, maybe 20 pieces. But by October you can be sure that we'll be seeing tens of thousands, possibly MILLIONS of knives, so chill out please! Relax! :D :p Everyone in America will be able to buy at least 100 per household LOL...

Seriously, I have a lot of stuff in the works but it's VERY slow to get them done, mainly because sheaths are taking forever. I have Tom Krein helping me with a batch for the upcoming RingThings but the rest I'm doing myself. This week I will be getting some sheaths done but I have paperwork to catch up on this morning since taxes are coming up... and unfortunately the dumdums I get my kydex from screwed up and sent me the wrong thickness of material so that has derailed me for the week. I'm nearly out of kydex and only have enough for a handful of these sheaths.

So, relax, take a deep breath and no worries. I have more than enough knives coming that I guarantee that everyone who wants a Peter Atwood Edged tool will be able to get one sometime in the next month or so. If you miss one of the upcoming sales just email me and I'll see if I can hook you up with something or another.

I will announce on the blog later this week before I post the full sized SOPTHings, OK? :)

Next week: RingThings, IF I can get the sheaths done.

Following week: Small number more of MSOPTHings, a few Wharncliffe Boogers, rest of the full sized SOPTHIngs.

After that, in October: More RingThings, a brand new CC knife design, a new keychain knife design. Again, it will depend on whether I can get sheaths done for these...

I do not take preorders, it turns into a nightmare so please don't ask. I'll be announcing sales for these beforehand right here on the blog. Thanks everyone for you understanding and support, I really do appreciate it.

Couple More Shots...

Major Eye Candy

One of my good customers sent out his plain UFO folder that he had bought through the secondary market and had it transformed by the extremely talented engraver CJ Cai. The current owner just sent it back to me so I could do the glow inlays for the alien's eyes. This has turned into such an extraordinary piece after all this that I'm having a hard time giving it up! :)

Stormy Weather!

Man oh man, we've been getting pounded the past few days. I planned to put stuff on the site but every time I get ready to do so the power goes out or a big storm comes up and I have to shut down my computer for fear of power surges. Yesterday we got hammered with thunder, lightening, hail and about 3.5 inches of rain. We've had something like 8-10 inches of rain so far this month. It's been the stormiest darned summer I can remember...anyway, all this should be clearing to some extent over the weekend so if I don't get a sale up today then certainly tomorrow or Saturday we should be seeing some action.

Also, I received word that my big load of G3 Prybabies is supposedly nearly done at the heat treaters and should be shipping today. So I'm hoping to see them early next week.

Thanks for your patience folks!
